Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition Nordic Partner

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a multi-sector Nordic collaboration that provides a platform for scalable and inclusive business models to improve the nutritional value of food in developing countries. The platform bridges the gap between businesses, civil society organizations, academia and the public sector. GAIN Nordic Cooperation is an alliance that integrates communication and cooperation, implementation measures and knowledge sharing. We are one of the founding members.

In December 2016 , the Danish development cooperation agency " Danish International Development Agency " ( DANIDA ) provided financial support to the Nordic project of the Global Alliance for Nutrition Improvement to develop the Ethiopian dairy market. Learn more about the project  here .

Find out more about inclusive business cooperation with NGOs and companies here , and see page 92 for examples of cooperation between Arla Foods Ingredients , Danish Church Aid, GAIN Nordic Partnership and the Confederation of Danish Industry.

SUN Business Network
In 2012, the World Food Program and GAIN launched the SUN Business Network to promote corporate participation in the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) movement. The aim is to build a business network - involving multinationals and local businesses, food and non-food - to strengthen the impact of nutrition in developing countries by developing profitable, sustainable and innovative business development models. We became a member of this business network in early 2017 and now provide different technical assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises around the world.

Danish Church Aid
Danish Church Aid (DCA) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to helping people living in poverty or whose lives are at risk. In 2018,Danish Church Aidreached a cooperation agreement with Arla Foods Ingredients to share knowledge and expertise and collaborate on the development of new premium food concepts. The first initiative is the establishment of a new “sustainable food platform” to improve the production of nutritious food for people living in and around refugee camps. The World Resources Institute andP4Gprovided financial support for the project. Like Arla Foods Ingredients, Danish Church Relief is a founding member of the GAIN Nordic Partnership.

Soon we will launch a nutritious biscuit made from locally grown quinoa , an affordable snack for malnourished families in Ethiopia, a small step towards a sustainable local supply of healthier food. Learn more about the project here .
